A Town Council consisting of a mayor and five aldermen governs the Town of Welsh. Aldermen are elected at large and represent all sectors of the community. The mayor and alderman are elected for 4-year terms. The following are elected officials comprising the Town Council.

Tommy Chaisson – Chief of Police

Chief Chaisson leads a dedicated staff of patrolmen and dispatchers who keep a careful watch over the town to protect our families from harm and crime. Dedicated officers are equipped to provide citizens peace of mind.

John Hall – Fire Chief

Chief Hall heads a dedicated group of volunteer firemen. These individuals provide the citizens with medical and fire protection. The fire department is well equipped and trained to meet the needs of our community.

Jim Ewing – Superintendent of Public Works

Superintendent Ewing leads a staff of devoted individuals that keep our town operating. This department is the backbone of the operations of the town. The Town of Welsh is proud to own its own electrical system, providing economical electricity and service to our citizens. This department also provides service and maintenance in the areas of water, waste treatment, garbage, roads, and the town’s infrastructure.

Linda LeBlanc – Town Clerk

Clerk LeBlanc supervises a caring and friendly staff at City Hall. This department is responsible for the financial operations of the town as well as handling the everyday request and needs of our citizens.

Richard Arceneaux – Town Attorney

Richard Arceneaux serves as Welsh's attorney and he handles all legal affairs regarding the Town.

Michelle Ramagos – Director of Parks and Recreation

This is a new position for the Town of Welsh. Mrs. Ramagos was hired to coordinate the recreational activities of our youth. The council has a keen interest in the development of our young citizens and feels that an organized recreational program is key to providing constructive activities to aid in the development of our youth.
